Interested in visiting Monaco?

By 20th January 2017 No Comments

Monaco is a little country (seriously … it’s less than one square mile in size, which is about the size of New York’s central park) set on the Mediterranean Sea.

Monaco vacations are all about luxury and indulgence. This small country has a big reputation for glitz and glamour, which is probably why the rich and famous (and anyone travelling Europe seeking the high life) head to Monaco.

Monaco is actually the second smallest nation in the world – the only one smaller is Holy See – but is the second most densely populated. Monaco borders France on three sides and the Mediterranean sea on the fourth.

Beaches

While Monte-Carlo, Monaco is famous for its casinos, a glamorous life and the F1 Grand Prix, the scenic Mediterranean coastline is home to some of the most beautiful beaches. The Monaco seafront area is called Larvotto and there are many public and private beaches, bars and restaurants nearby.

Most of Monaco’s beaches are man-made. While at the beach you can windsurf, water ski, wake board, jet ski, parasail … or just relax while you put your toes into the refreshing water of the Mediterranean sea.

Things to Do

There are many hotels in Monaco you can stay in, but you won’t want to spend too much time in your room. While the most famous Monaco destination is the Monte Carlo Casino, there are many other things you can do during your Monaco vacation. If you’re looking for a day of pampering and relaxation, head to the Les Thermes Marins de Monte Carlo spa … you won’t regret it.

You can also book a helicopter ride from Nice into Monte Carlo and see the city from above. Or, if you love to shop, head over to Cercle d’Or and the Galerie des Allées Lumières. Or, if you’re feeling lucky, you can always try your hand at the casino.

If you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket, you could always pay for entry into one of the “exclusive” rooms … the stakes are higher and everyone is better-dressed.

Eating and Drinking

All aspects of Monaco life are influenced by the French and Italians … so, why would you expect anything different with the food? Because Monaco is right off the sea, you’ll see a lot of sea food options on the menu. Fish plays a huge role in the diet of the Monaco people. Some of the best Monaco restaurants will serve traditional Monaco delicacies.

These meals are delightfully, wonderful and will tickle your taste buds.

Shopping

Because Monaco is the capital for the world of luxury, you’ll find the foremost names in fashion set up shop in the area. Shopping in Monaco, you’ll find only the best in perfumes, jewellery, gorgeous and high quality attire, handbags and more. If you want to have the ultimate shopping experience, head to the famous “Golden Square.”

The Golden Square is comprised of Avenue Monte-Carlo, avenue des Beaux Arts and Les Allées Lumières . The famous “Golden Square” is at the heart of the town and has the most elegant boutiques with prestigious labels (ever heard of Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton?).

If you’re looking for souvenirs, make sure you head to Old town.
